Standard Application Technique
for Powder Polish
![]() |
1. Using any polish remover, remove all polish and topcoats from the natural nail. 2. Using the 300/600 Pink Buffer, gently remove the superficial layer of dirt and oil from the natural nail and use a cuticle pusher to push back the cuticle. It is necessary to remove the cuticle thoroughly to ensure Powder Polish will stay on. 3. Wash hands thoroughly with an antibacterial soap. Allow hands to dry thoroughly. |
|
| 4. Spray each nail with Powder Polish Nail Prep to clean and dehydrate nail. 5. Apply one thin, even coat of Ultra Smooth Powder Polish Bonder to all 10 nails and allow to dry. 6. Apply one thin, even coat of Ultra Smooth Powder Polish Bonder to each nail, one at a time, then press nail into Powder Polish. Press firmly and evenly, hold, then rotate finger right to left. Tap finger lightly to remove excess Powder Polish. |

7. To avoid a mess, throw your paper towel away and get a fresh one each time you repeat step 6. 8. After finishing all ten nails, dust excess powder off the nails with the Powder Polish Dust Brush. 9. Repeat steps 6 and 8 at least once. Like traditional nail enamel, Powder Polish requires two coats for even color. |
|
| 10. Apply one coat of Powder Polish Bonder to each nail. Wait 90 seconds. To prevent air bubbles in the finished nail, be sure the Bonder fully saturates the first and second coats of Powder Polish before proceeding. 11. Apply one or two drops of Ultra Smooth Activator. 12. Using the 300/600 Pink Buffer, gently buff each nail until smooth. 13. Apply one or two coats of Powder Polish Brush on Gloss followed by 1 or 2 drops of Ultra Smooth Activator. |

2. Apply one coat of Powder Polish Ultra Smooth Bonder to the tip of each nail and allow to dry. One nail at a time, apply a thin, even coat of Bonder to the tip area. Press the fingernail into the white tip powder of your choice firmly and evenly. Tap finger lightly to remove excess Powder Polish. Use an orangewood stick to straighten out the smile line. Dust excess powder off with the Powder Polish Brush. Repeat this step once again.
3. Apply one final coat of Ultra Smooth Bonder to the white tip, then apply one or two drops of Ultra Smooth Activator. Allow to dry completely. Continuing with the pink area, apply one coat of Powder Polish Bonder to the area from the cuticle to the white tip line and allow to dry. One nail at a time, apply a thin, even coat of Bonder on the same area and press the fingernail into the pink powder of your choice. Dust excess powder off with the Powder Polish Brush and repeat.
4. Follow steps 10 through 13 to finish the nail.
1. Remove any top coat on the nail with a non-acetone polish remover.
2. Using an 80 grit file, thin the existing Powder Polish. Remove any loose or lifted product by filing.
3. Starting with step 2 of Application Techniques, prep the new growth and smooth the existing Powder Polish with the 300/600 pink file. Continue through step 13.
4. Dip in the same or a different color of Powder Polish you can even go from dark to light since Powder Polish is very opaque.
5. You should thin the existing Powder Polish and recoat the entire nail whether you are going to change colors or not. Recoating with fresh product will make them more durable.
6. Another easy way to maintain new growth or change colors is to buff the shine from each nail and add 1 or 2 coats of traditional nail polish. Since the base nail is evenly colored, one coat will usually yield good results.
2. Pour acetone into the small bowl to a depth of at least 2 inches.
3. Fill large bowl with very hot - but NOT boiling - water (if water is not hot enough, the acetone will not remove Powder Polish quickly).
4. Remove any polish from nails.
5. Put petroleum jelly around the client’s nails and under the free edge.
6. Place small bowl into large bowl (like a double boiler). Do NOT attempt to heat acetone in any other manner. Do NOT put acetone in microwave.
7. Place client’s hands in acetone for 31/2 minutes. Have client gently rub each nail while in acetone. At first, nails should feel slick to the touch. When nails begin to feel rough and grainy, allow the nails to soak for 30 seconds without rubbing. Finally, begin rubbing again - do not scrape. Continue until Powder Polish has completely dissolved. Do not remove fingers from acetone during this process.
2. Avoid getting Powder Polish Bonder and Powder Polish on skin. To remove Powder Polish Bonder and Powder Polish from skin, massage cuticle oil into skin and soak in hot water, or use a small amount of acetone on an orangewood stick and rub the area until Powder Polish Bonder and Powder Polish dissolves.
3. When dipping the nail into Powder Polish, press firmly and evenly. Do NOT drag the fingernail.
4. If the 3-way buffer or 2 coats of Powder Polish Brush on Gloss doesn’t leave the nail shiny, your file is too coarse. Try our Powder Polish 300/600 Pink Buffer.
5. Prep the nail with a soft buffer only. Using a coarse file can damage the natural nail and will leave Powder Polish bumpy. Apply 2 base coats of Powder Polish Bonder to nails if the natural nail is rough or damaged from removing acrylics.
6. If, when applying Powder Polish you miss a small area of the nail, apply more Powder Polish Bonder to that area and dip finger in Powder Polish again.
7. Powder Polish will last from 10 to 21 days before touch-up application is needed. If Powder Polish begins to chip before 10 days, Powder Polish has not been properly applied.
8. If you have chipping before 10 days, try the following steps: Use a 240 grit file to prep the nails.
9. Before dipping, apply two base coats of Powder Polish Bonder and allow to dry for 45 seconds.
10. Proceed with steps 6 through 8 of Application Techniques. During step 10, apply two coats of Powder Polish Bonder instead of one.
11. You may custom blend any of the Powder Polish colors to create unlimited new shades.
12. Some sensitive individuals may experience a sense of tightness - this is normal and should subside within 24 hours.
